In the polling, the public comments and the private, readers showed themselves kindly and supportively responsive to the concerns I raised Wednesday. In the polling, the vote clearly supported one free essay per week — my original intent with Homo Vitruvius. As I said in reply to one comment, I, too, as a reader can feel overwhelmed and don’t always get to all I wish I could read.
As a writer, I never had in mind to replicate a blog on Substack in place of the Wild Wild Web. My intent, as a writer and thinker, remains to share each week one polished piece of work, new or newly revised, as one expression of my creative and intellectual life.
The vote for the day of the week distributed more widely. Frankly, I can’t even tell you why I originally chose Friday. Maybe I had some notion of weekend reading in mind.
